The survival horror Crow Country attempts the artistic crossover between Resident Evil and FF7

Especially behind Crow Country hide the brothers Tom and Adam Vian, whose studio SFB Games is not unknown. Remember the cooperative puzzle game Snipperclips or the investigation game Tangle Tower, to name only the most recent ones. Definitely open to all kinds of genres and artistic directions, the London brothers offer here a survival horror whose environments are shaped to be reminiscent of the pre-calculated settings of the PS1 era, but which are in fact all in 3D, which allows you to freely operate the camera. With its interface resident Evil and its characters FF7, Crow Country also has a little something of Silent Hill 3 (Adam Vian’s favorite horror game) and more precisely of its abandoned amusement park. It is 1990 in the vicinity of Atlanta when a certain Mara Forest ventures into these disused places to find the trail of Edward Crow, the founder of the park who disappeared two years earlier.

Fear of the park

The authors’ objective is to offer a perfectly atmospheric survival horror, carried by few but memorable characters, interesting exploration and relevant puzzles. You will have to pause the game to check Mara’s health level and possibly consume a healing item. Mara will also need a source of fire to make a save, whether that takes the form of a chimney fire or something else. Accompanied by the music ofOckeroid, the adventure will take place entirely within the park which will reveal its secrets as we find new keys, objects or information allowing us to progress. Note also the presence of an exploration mode intended for those who want to enjoy the game without being attacked.

Crow Country will be released next year on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC, but a playable demo is already online on Steam as well as on the PlayStation Store.
