The taste of Paris – Five new terraces to book (absolutely)



L’aperitif, the great outdoors, the French way of life, what! Thanks to the terraces, Paris once again becomes a party on sunny days. We like to enjoy it. The eye is flattered, the palate sated. A little music day and night like an enchanting refrain. To take full advantage of summer in the capital, Point gives you its list of five new terraces to see and be seen. Between unique views and green settings, French, Mediterranean cuisine and elsewhere (Italian, Israeli, Nikkei), here are our favorite addresses, stretching from the right bank to the left bank, to (re)find the pleasure of sit down and toast. Mimosa
The white benches with azure stripes nestled in the main courtyard of the Hôtel de la Marine give the impression of having escaped to the shores of the Mediterranean. That’s good, Jean-François and Élodie Piège celebrate the Riviera between the Côte d’Azur and the borders of Italy in this historic place on the Place de la Concorde, where they sign the restaurant menu of Moma Group. A cuisine that gives pride of place to sharing: farandole of mimosa eggs (special mention to those with tarama); garden vegetable fritters à la niçoise; grilled rock octopus; meatball (veal and beef) with tomato cooked in a wood oven, heart of burrata, basil; iced calisson, melon refreshed with amaretto.

gigi
Perched above the Champs-Élysées theatre, the rooftop of the former White House taken over by Paris Society reveals a breathtaking view of the capital’s emblematic monuments. All you have to do is take a seat in the middle of this lush oasis to enjoy the Eiffel Tower and the Invalides in your sights. Julien Chicoisne has plenty of ideas for putting the specialties of Italian cuisine on the plate. On the program, charcuterie in all its forms (Parma ham, mortadella with truffles, culatello di zibello…), vitello tonnato, Margherita pizza, pasta regiment, risotto of the day, veal cutlet Milanese. In the sweets department, go for the tiramisu.

Fabula
In the heart of the Marais, the French gardens of the Carnavalet museum host two tables in one providing the feeling of having left the fury of Paris. The change of scenery begins at noon with the snack menu: hot beef kefta, peanut sauce, pickled red onions; gnochetti, asparagus and zucchini with pesto, roasted tomatoes; strawberry pavlova, agastache sprouts. In the evening, Thibaut Spiwack takes control of the place to play his gastronomic score off the beaten track: mackerel with sage, green beans, cherry-sage condiment; Norman beef gravlax with cognac, mussels with turmeric, mashed broccoli with horseradish; caramel rock, tonka ganache.

Tekes
A well of light invites itself under the glass roof of the new haunt opened in the Sentier – in place of the table of Klay, Arthur Benzaquen’s very popular sports club – by the merry band of Balagan and Shabour. During the day, you find yourself immersed in a greenhouse atmosphere inside the 35-seat patio. At night, you have the feeling of being propelled into a mysterious garden. In the kitchen, Cécile Lévy uses only plants to phosphorus, paying homage to the flavors, colors and scents of Jerusalem. Don’t miss the Jerusalem artichoke cream and celeriac tartare, a twist on a crème brûlée.

Vesper
A stone’s throw from the ephemeral Grand Palais, the third address of serial restaurateur Guillaume Benard (Fitzgerald, Abstinence) shelters a cocoon protected from view by abundant vegetation and from the sun by an elegant dark green Italian blind. Lucas Felzine takes pleasure in introducing Nikkei cuisine, a fusion of South America and the empire of the Land of the Rising Sun. His must-haves? Lacquered duck gyozas, Peruvian curry broth, Japanese virgin; bluefin tuna ceviche, leche de tigre with matcha and seaweed, miso cherry pork belly confit with robata (Japanese barbecue), umeshu (Japanese plum) and huacatay (a kind of marigold).
