The Senate voted on Friday evening, on the government’s proposal, to extend “effectively” the additional tax half-share to all widows (or widowers) of veterans, aged over 74, “regardless of the husband’s age of death.
During the examination of the 2023 draft budget, the Minister in charge of Public Accounts Gabriel Attal presented an amendment amplifying the mechanism voted on by the National Assembly in this regard. The government’s amendment removes the age requirement for the person holding the combatant’s card at the time of his death, according to the explanatory memorandum.
This tax advantage was until then reserved for widows and widowers over 74 whose deceased husband received the combatant’s pension, awarded from the age of 65.
