The too quickly forgotten Final Fantasy XVI is on sale for less than €40 on PS5

[Deal du Jour] If Final Fantasy XVI, released in June last year, was not the great game expected, it is nonetheless a good title. After being definitively eclipsed by the tidal wave Final Fantasy VII Rebirthit arrives on sale at La Fnac.

What is the Final Fantasy XVI promotion?

Final Fantasy XVI is sold on the PlayStation Store in dematerialized version, at the price of €79.99. It is currently available on PlayStation 5 in physical version at the price of €39.99.

What is Final Fantasy XVI?

Final Fantasy XVI is an Action RPG developed and published by Square Enix which takes place in the world of Valisthéa. Each kingdom of this world is linked to a crystal, a powerful source of magic, and has an emissary holding an invocation called Primordial. Clive is tasked with protecting Joshua, his younger brother and emissary of the Phoenix Summon, as conflicts between the kingdoms begin.

As the game progresses, comparisons with Game Of Thrones are numerous. The universe and the characters are indeed reminiscent of those of the saga of George RR Martin. And even if Final Fantasy XVI sometimes gets lost in useless chatter, the narration and the story set up are fascinating, helped by a generous staging. Less classic in its unfolding than Final Fantasy VII Rebirthand yet more conventional, this opus is a great adventure, if its proposition suits you.

Is Final Fantasy XVI worth it for less than €40?

This is a very good price if you were planning on doing this and were waiting for its price to drop. Apart from history, Final Fantasy XVI leaves room for action. The fights, too simple or on the contrary too technical, are not always well balanced, despite the simplicity of the gameplay. The fun is still there, despite the absence of the RPG component which usually gives all the charm of Final Fantasy.

Technically, the game does justice to the PS5. The compartmentalized world of the game and its linear aspect allow the Square-Enix teams to offer magnificent settings, with controlled lighting. A very different adventure from FF7 Rebirth in short, but worth playing.
