the trick to know to make them thicker

fun, news, tips… what else?

Are your eyebrows thin or sparse? We have the solution: backcombing, a very simple but super effective gesture to make them fuller.

Our eyebrows are no exception to the make-up trends of the moment and if the fine eyebrows of the 90s have been able to come back to the fore for those who naturally have thin eyebrows, this shape of eyebrows has not succeeded in dethroning the thick eyebrows who continue to have the monopoly in 2022. Whether they are designed to lift the look or copy the shape of those of Audrey Hepburn, whether we cheat with permanent makeup to thicken them or even that their hair is perfectly styled and fixed by a brow lift to enlarge the gaze: the trend is rather for full eyebrows. But not everyone is lucky enough to have a natural full eyebrow line.

If your eyebrows are too thin or sparse, know that a simple little gesture can restore thickness and volume instantly: the backcombing. An eyebrow enhancement technique known to makeup artists – but less so to the general public – which is nevertheless an unstoppable beauty tip for displaying fuller eyebrows without having to be a tweezers or make-up pro.

Eyebrows: what is the backcombing ?

As the name of the technique suggests – comb meaning comb in English – it is a way of “combing” the eyebrows which consists of brushing them in the opposite direction to that of their growth. The idea is to lift the hairs so that they take up more space and the eyebrows gain volume. A clever gesture comparable to the one we do to boost the volume of our hair when we ruffle our locks upside down.

Backcombing : how to brush your eyebrows to make them fuller?

You would have understood it, a simple brush for the eyebrows (like the ones you find at the tip of some eyebrow pencils) is enough to brush them and give them the look you want. But if the gesture counts, the use of a specific product to put it into practice can clearly make the difference and further improve the result obtained with the backcombing. You can therefore decide to comb your hairs with a transparent or tinted eyebrow gel which goes in addition texturize the hairs to thicken them or even combine combing your hair with the use of a pencil or an eyebrow wax to combine the trompe l’oeil of the color and the styling effect of the backcombing.

The other benefits of backcombing on the eyebrows

As eyebrow styling expert Kristie Streicher explains, brushing your brows like this doesn’t just have an immediate cosmetic benefit. It also helps to “stimulate the growth of follicles and eliminate dead skin that can accumulate under the hairs of the eyebrows”. Clearly, this performs a welcome little scrub to have beautiful, full eyebrows and prevent ingrown hairs from regrowing. Not bad is not it?
