- Three people were killed Thursday morning and six others injured, three of them seriously, in a shooting attack at a bus stop in west Jerusalem, according to Israeli police. This attack, carried out according to the police by “two residents of East Jerusalem” occupied and annexed by Israel, comes as the truce between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip was extended at the last minute on Thursday morning for a seventh day.
- Israel, Hamas and Qatar announced Thursday morning an extension of the truce until at least Friday. Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said it received this morning a list of ten women and children hostages who are to be released today from Gaza, in accordance with previously agreed ceasefire rules. The truce will thus continue under the same conditions as the previous six days, during which Hamas released a minimum of ten hostages per day in exchange for at least thirty Palestinian prisoners released by Israel.
- Hamas released a sixth group of hostages on Wednesday evening : ten Israelis, including several dual nationals, and four Thais. The Palestinian group had also announced earlier the release of two Israeli-Russian hostages. They all arrived in Israel overnight.
- Israel released thirty Palestinian detainees in return, sixteen minors and fourteen women. Among those released was Ahed Tamimi, a 22-year-old figure in the Palestinian cause, arrested on November 6 for an Instagram post calling for the murder of Israelis – her family denied she was behind it. Asmaa Abu Takfa, a 32-year-old Arab Israeli, was also released. She is accused of wanting to carry out a stabbing attack in Jerusalem in April.
- As on previous nights, the released prisoners were greeted with celebrations. Clashes erupt outside Ofer prison, five people injuredincluding one seriously, by live ammunition during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.
- US Secretary of State Antony Blinken landed in Tel Aviv overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, where he is to meet with Israeli leaders about the truce with Hamas and the continuation of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. This is his sixth visit to Israel since the start of the war on October 7.
