Elon Musk reportedly shadowbans the Twitter account of a new union organized within Tesla.

Tesla employees have been working for several months to create unions to make their voices heard and their rights respected. A movement that Elon Musk opposes, the businessman having several times shown his antipathy for this kind of organization. And this enmity would have unfortunately spilled over to Twitter.

A union that has become invisible on Twitter

Would Twitter become a Tesla personnel management tool? It’s a bit of a strange sight, but one that nevertheless takes shape with this accusation leveled against the network of having “shadowbanned” the account of a newly formed union, within the Tesla factory in Buffalo.

The founders of this union have thus filed a complaint with the American labor policeman, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) where they detail their accusation against Elon Musk, boss, as we recall, of both the manufacturer of electric vehicles and the network. social.

In February 2023, immediately after workers announced a labor campaign at Tesla Gigafactory 2, the aforementioned employer, through CEO Elon Musk and/or his agents and representatives, arranged for the union’s Twitter account (@united_tesla) to be banned from the Twitter platform “, they say.

Employees dismissed before the formation of the union

And it’s true right now that searching for the union username “united_tesla”, or the display name “TeslaWorkersUnited” doesn’t find them on Twitter. According to a spokesperson for the group who confided in Vicea shadowban test was performed on their name, and confirmed that they were on purpose hidden.

If the information were confirmed, it would be a new episode in the war between factory employees and Tesla management on the issue of unions. Last week, 30 employees at the Buffalo site were fired. A wave of dismissals which was carried out, according to the employees, in retaliation for the constitution of the union.

Tesla for his part denied any relationship, and explained that he had identified the people the company was going to fire in early February, long before the union controversy swelled. In any case, a new confusion between the two companies should not please Tesla shareholders, who had already little appreciated Elon Musk’s sale of Tesla shares to finance his takeover of Twitter.
