It’s the start of the summer holidays, and for many French people, the time to hit the road for vacation. On the motorway pages, it is impossible to miss these “summer” lanes, reserved for motorists with a toll pass, which allows you to pass more quickly and to be billed without having to take out the credit card each time.
And the solution has many followers. According to Christophe Boutin, general delegate of the Association of French motorway companies (ASFA), quoted by the association 60million consumersthe telepage channels represent less than 20% of the tracks but they drain 52% of the traffic. Telepage is all the more effective when there is a lot of traffic.
Several offers exist. The best known is undoubtedly Ulys, a telephone service offered by Vinci Autoroutes and which offers three formulas, the operating cost of which ranges from 0.90 euros per day to 3.50 euros per month. Bip&Go, or Fulli are other alternatives.
Be careful not to let a badge sleep
If the use of telepage can be practical, there are certain costs that it is better to know, otherwise you will end up paying unexpected costs. Did you know for example that non-use for 14 consecutive months of the telepage badge could result in a fee of 10 euros? Companies ensure that there are no badges sleeping in drawers, explains Christophe Boutin.
If the badge is made available without being invoiced, affirms the general delegate of ASFA, 60 million consumers note that there are, in many cases, commissioning fee of 10 20euros and shipping costs of 4 to 6 euros. Not all operators apply the same fees, so it’s best to look into this when comparing the different offers.
Finally, while motorists can pay their motorway bill with holiday vouchers, the consumer association points out that holidaymakers who would like to do so must take out the subscription: Liber-t Vacances. However, if the service is free as long as there is holiday voucher credit on the user’s account, it is then billed at 2 euros per month.
