The very salty note of the regularization of gas bills

Over the past year, energy prices have risen sharply, to such an extent that French bills have exploded. According to INSEE, consumer prices jumped 41% for gas between December 2020 and October 2021, 21% for fuels and 3% for electricity. As reported France Blue, these increases have given rise, or give rise, to adjustments that are sometimes very steep for the French. A retiree questioned by our colleagues is in despair about the situation: “The bills are increasing while our consumption is falling.”

Because, if we compile all the bills (gas, electricity, gasoline, etc.), according to INSEE, the French spent 64 euros more per month. And the trend is not downward. Near France Blue, the supplier of green energy Ilek notes that the price of the kilowatt-hour has been multiplied by 2.5 in one year, which sometimes gives rise to “three-digit” regularization bills. The co-founder of the supplier Rémy Companyo makes no secret: “Electricity prices will continue to increase in 2022 and 2023”, despite the tariff shield promised by the Prime Minister.

Greener energies?

What solutions to reduce your bill? There is obviously no miracle recipe, even if the co-founder of Ilek pleads for a “change in the way he consumes energies” or a reduction in his consumption. Some households have also been entitled to state aid such as the energy check, touched by 5.8 million households, or the inflation allowance of 100 euros, paid to all those earning less than 2,000 euros net per month.

Finally, there is aid for energy renovation for houses which are still thermal strainers and which necessarily spend much more. Households are thus giving up heating themselves because of the prices generated. In the south of Toulouse, the municipality of Ramonville is trying to act for its fellow citizens, explains France Bleu. In order to benefit from a reduced tariff, the concept of group electricity purchases was created. If for the moment the savings are not huge given the increases in recent months, the initiative has the merit of existing. What’s more, energy is green, and it could prove to be cheap in the long run.
