The wait goes on – Lamparter narrowly missed out on the podium in Ramsau

Double world champion Johannes Lamparter narrowly missed out on a podium finish at the home World Cup in Ramsau. The 21-year-old from Tyrol had to settle for fourth place in the first of two competitions in Styria on Friday.

“Really cool, a good jump and I was fighting for the music up front,” Lamparter said with satisfaction at the finish after his best result of the season. The ÖSV hope reported back with a jump to 91.0 m on the hill and started in fifth place, one minute behind Riiber. There Lamparter ran together with Geiger and Oftebro in a group until the end for the podium places. “It got very fast on the last lap and I lost a bit of my strength. The others were simply better.” Lamparter, who was often thrown back by illness in preparation, saw the good result in front of his home crowd as an initial spark. “It certainly brings relief to me. Some things might then start to run automatically again. Then you’re lucky with a better jump and you’re right at the front. A good day,” said the Tyrolean. Men’s head coach Christoph Eugen was also satisfied. “It worked very well on the hill. When you run, you also go a bit forward,” he said, looking at the team performance. Junior World Champion Stefan Rettenegger finished ninth, 55.7 seconds behind, as the second-best ÖSV man. Mario Seidl, last in Lillehammer as fifth best Austrian, had to settle for 19th place after a weak jump. Martin Fritz (21st), Lukas Greiderer (22nd) and Thomas Rettenegger (25th) also made it into the top 25. Local hero Franz-Josef Rehrl, third after the jumping, was passed behind Fabio Obermeyr in 30th place.
