“The Walking Dead” can’t be killed: Now AMC is even announcing another offshoot that will revolve around Negan and Maggie.

The main series “The Walking Dead” may be on its last legs with the current and final 11th season. But the zombie universe keeps growing. After various offshoots have already appeared or are in the planning stage, the US broadcaster AMC has now officially announced another spin-off. It will be called “Isle Of The Dead” and will revolve around the duo Maggie (Lauren Cohan, 40) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, 55). AMC announced this via an Instagram post.

The Instagram post only mentions the year 2023 as the targeted start date for the new series. According to the industry website “Deadline”. it will be a six-episode miniseries, with screenwriter Eli Jorne (42) acting as showrunner.

Tensions are inevitable in the duo Negan and Maggie: After all, he murdered her husband Glenn many seasons ago (Steven Yeun, 38) in a bestial way. In the meantime, however, the former villain is considered to have been purified and has even blossomed into one of the fan favorites.

However, the announcement does not yet trigger a huge hype among all fans of the original when looking at the comment area. Some seem to have reached a certain level of zombie saturation. “No, I’m done with that” or “For heaven’s sake, not another series,” it says there, among other things.

No end in sight

The undead are indeed finding TV fodder in abundance at the moment and in the years to come. The last season of “The Walking Dead” was split into three parts with 24 episodes due to overlength, the series is scheduled to end this year. And with former leading actor Andrew Lincoln (48) as Rick Grimes, several “The Walking Dead” films are still planned.

Spin-off number one, “Fear the Walking Dead”, is also still running, meanwhile “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” has already been completed. In the summer of 2022, “Tales of the Walking Dead” should also be launched, which deals with well-known characters from the main series. If that’s still not enough, there will be another duo on the screen next to Negan and Maggie in 2023: Because Carol (Melissa McBride, 56) and Daryl (Norman Reedus, 53) will then fight the zombie hordes in their own offshoot may fight back.
