The Walking Dead: Betrayal disappoints, a radical decision taken by the developers

This summer, Other Ocean Interactive revealed The Walking Dead: Betrayal, a game of cooperation and “social deception” which uses all the codes and mechanics of Project Winter, but in a post-apocalyptic world with zombies. An official licensed title published by Skybound Games launched last September, in Early Access.

But if Project Winter still manages to attract players, this is not the case for The Walking Dead: Betrayal, which has “average” ratings on Steam. The developers released a statement recently in order to address the rest of the program… and there will be none. On December 15, The Walking Dead: Betrayal will be discontinued and removed from Steam. The players will obviously be reimbursed, Other Ocean Interactive explain :

After considering various paths forward, and after much discussion and consideration, Skybound Games and Other Ocean Interactive have decided to cease development on The Walking Dead: Betrayal. Despite the hard work put into the game, we couldn’t find a way to create the vibrant community of traitors we had originally envisioned.

On December 11, we will begin the process of removing the game from Steam, and from December 15, the game will be shut down. All players who purchased the game will receive a full refund. We will provide updates on refunds here on Steam and on TWD: Betrayal Discord.

Thanks to everyone who played, betrayed and gave feedback! Your support and commitment mean everything to us. We look forward to bringing you even more awesome The Walking Dead experiences in the future.

The adventure of The Walking Dead: Betrayal will therefore have been very short-livedlet’s hope that fans will one day be treated to a new game The Walking Dead which is desirable. You can still discover The Walking Dead: Destiny from €34.99 on Amazon, there Fnac And Gamesplanet.
