Many “The Walking Dead” fans expressed criticism of the recently aired series finale. The end didn’t seem round enough, just not like a real finale. This fact is easy to explain: the story goes on! Although TWD is over, various spin-offs with well-known characters are still ahead of us.
This includes “The Walking Dead: Dead City”. The six-part mini-series is scheduled to start in April 2023 in the USA on AMC and in Germany on Disney+. The action picks up two years after the finale of The Walking Dead and sees Negan and Maggie together in New York.
How did this surprising collaboration come about? The spin-off has to tell us that. All we know from the finale is that Negan left the group, for now with an unknown destination. Negan somehow ended up in New York and apparently found an important reason to bring Maggie to him.
In a first short trailer we see Maggie and Negan in Manhattan. We also experience the anarchy in the city cut off from the rest of the world and new zombies that have never been seen before in “The Walking Dead”.
After “The Walking Dead: Dead City” we can expect numerous other TWD spin-offs in the coming year. “Fear the Walking Dead” fans can look forward to season 8 of the long-lived offshoot, new series about Daryl in France and a series about Rick and Michonne.
