The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners: record revenues and graphical update of the Meta Quest 3 version available

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is a survival FPS released in January 2020. This is a flagship VR title, which, like a Half-Life: Alyx, knew how to set standards, those which will be taken up in many other titles of the same genre. Ahead of its time, the title has not aged and continues to interest players. How to explain such success? What can Quest 3 owners expect?

Undead, craftadvanced interaction, realistic physics, an ode to experimentation… it doesn’t take more to break into the world of virtual reality. If the license is known to be much more difficult than a Arizona Sunshine 2, considered more arched, it is also much denser. At the risk of disappointing some, in Saints & Sinners you will not be able to shooter zombie all over! You will be limited by your body, by your endurance, by your hunger, by your reflexes, by your lack of ammunition… but not by your lack of imagination! Lovers of Deus Ex or recent Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice will not be disoriented, since here, it is up to the player and not the game to choose how to approach situations.

The fact of forcing (through difficulty) the player to think contributes greatly to the success of the license.

When you’re constantly asking yourself the question “Raaahh, how am I going to get out of this this time?”, that’s already an admission of immersion. And this is also why the game is gripping, At no time does the player feel like he or she is playing or having to play the character.. The nickname “tourist” was actually not chosen at random, it refers to the player who, coming from another reality, will discover the one offered by the game. The license reflects the series from which it is inspiredthe behavior of the player (of the team in the eponymous series) is quite clumsy at the beginning, then empirically, the latter acquires reflexes and knowledge which will allow him to face most of the confrontations to come. And it is precisely by scraping off the veneer of its difficulty that the title was able to carve out a special place in the hearts of VR players.

To date, Saints & Sinners’ revenues have reached $100 million.

Between the DLCs, the graphics updates, the release of as many different versions as there are headsets available, the series is essential, both for the content it offers and its quality, but also and above all for its exemplary follow-up.

Last spring, Skydance Interactive had delighted the new owners of the PlayStation VR 2 by delivering a very qualitative port (something which is becoming all the more rare on this medium these days) of the two chapters of the franchise (in addition to the bundle sold at a reduced price). From now on, it is Quest 3 owners (no jealousy!) who can, from now on, obtain their optimized version. For the second chapter, the patch graph should logically be done later (the studio has always accustomed us to going to the end of things).

As we mentioned previously, even if the version will never be able to play on equal terms against the PSVR 2 or the PC version, it will have the merit of trying to get closer. Note the addition of dynamic shadows, more detailed textures, a greater display distance, a greater number of Walkers

We will test this version soon, hoping to obtain the same effect that Asgard’s Wrath II gave us : that of making us understand that although we are below a PCVR rendering, the result is such that we feel no regrets in following the adventure like this.
