“The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” explains in episode 1 what lies behind the mysterious A and B classification that Jadis used to bring Rick into the CRM. We reveal who is an A and who is a B.
Since Season 9 of The Walking Dead, we’ve been wondering what Jadis meant when she explained to the mysterious helicopter group that Rick wasn’t an A, but a B. Over the years, we’ve seen hints of what lies behind this classification in other spin-offs.
“The Walking Dead: World Beyond” has revealed that the As do not have a happy fate. Experiments are being carried out on them to test a cure for the zombie virus. In “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” the mystery is now solved.
As are strong leaders, Bs are followers
Lieutenant Colonel Okafor explains that As are strong people with leadership qualities. They are directly picked out and killed by the Civic Republic Military. According to Okafor, Bs are people who just want to survive and follow others.
Rick should only be delivered to the CRM as A until Jadis changes his mind and does him a service of friendship. She knew that as A he had no chance whatsoever and that the CRM would not have cared for him in the military hospital. But Okafor recognizes Rick’s true nature. His numerous attempts to escape clearly indicate that Rick doesn’t like living under the influence of others and is actually an A.
It’s only because Okafor keeps putting in a good word for Rick with Major General Beale that Rick is still part of the CRM and alive. Okafor has bigger plans for Rick. He wants Rick to become a senior member of the CRM and change the organization from within.
