According to the official synopsis, the series “tells the extraordinary love story of two characters transformed by a world that has changed. Separated by distance and by the ghosts of those they were before, Rick and Michonne are propelled into another world governed by the war against the dead… Which in reality is a war against the living.

Will they manage to find themselves and at the same time find their identity in an environment and circumstances that are still new? Are they enemies? Lover ? Victims ? Winners? One without the other, are they really alive or will they discover that they too are undead?

From films to series

Originally, the return of Rick Grimes to the universe of The Walking Dead had to be done through several films. According to Varietywhen the actor left at the end of season 9 of the show, Lincoln had the ambition to continue Rick’s story in a new form, but he also immediately wanted Gurira to be part of the adventure .

The initial idea was therefore to make a first feature film about Rick in which Michonne would make a brief appearance at the end and then launch the other films. But as is often the case in Hollywood, plans changed and the project turned into a series.

Scott M. Gimple, the boss of Walking Dead Universe at AMC, is the showrunner of the series and its co-creator with Lincoln and Gurira. All three also serve as producers alongside Denise Huth and Brian Bockrath.
