The “war for talent” encourages Dassault Systèmes to better compensate its employees

The 2022 operating margin of Dassault Systèmes, the leading French software publisher, should suffer from the “talent war” which is currently affecting the world of development.

The software publisher for professionals intends to increase the salaries of its employees to avoid leaks to the competition. The increase in the wage bill should reduce profits, the publisher tells its investors.

But it is still very comfortable for Dassault Systèmes. Its operating margin for 2022 is expected to be between 32.7% and 33.1%. It reached 34.5% in 2021.

“We are going to have some inflation on wages”

Director of operations Pascal Daloz explains that “there is a talent war, so we will have some inflation on wages, and we must continue to hire significantly in certain regions”, indicates Reuters.

2021 was above all a good year for Dassault Systèmes. The company recorded an increase in turnover of 11%, to 4.86 billion euros. The 2022 forecast is for turnover to increase by 9% to 10% to reach between 5.3 billion and 5.35 billion euros.

The software sector is showing resilience, despite the health crisis. It weighs a total of 17.9 billion euros in turnover, up 9% compared to 2019. As a reminder, Dassault Systèmes, Ubisoft and Criteo dominate the general ranking of software publishers in France.
