The Wheel of Time season 3: release, casting, synopsis… the first information on the sequel to Prime Video’s fantasy series

While season 2 of The Wheel of Time has just ended on Prime Video, discover the first information on season 3, already ordered.

WHEN AND WHERE WILL THE WHEEL OF TIME SEASON 3 RELEASED?

In July 2022, well before the release of season 2 which has just ended, Prime Video announced the renewal of The Wheel of Time. Enough to give the teams enough time to write the scripts for season 3.

Unfortunately, the writers’ and actors’ strike happened in the meantime, putting a stop to all American productions. While filming began in April 2023 in Prague and was to continue until October, the teams had to leave the premises. At this time, we do not know when they will be able to resume filming season 3 of The Wheel of Time.

We had to wait two years between the first two seasons, and this period of time seems to be justified for the next one. The series should logically not be back on our screens before 2025. Except for a big surprise.

WHAT WILL THE WHEEL OF TIME SEASON 3 BE ABOUT?

Season 3 of The Wheel of Time should logically adapt the fourth novel in the literary series, entitled “A Rising of Darkness”, of which here is the synopsis:

Rand Al’Thor conquered the Stone of Tear by seizing the sword Callandor, he therefore reveals himself to everyone as the Dragon Reincarnated. He now has a plan to fulfill his destiny. Nynaeve and Elayne are still in pursuit of the Aes Sedai of the Black Ajah while Egwenne will undergo training to master her gift as a Dreamer. Meanwhile, disturbing rumors reach Tear concerning the territory of Deux-Rivières.

Perrin will indeed discover that the Trollocs have invaded his village and that its inhabitants are dying one by one. The latter will head towards Deux-Rivières where a siege will begin to protect the region from external attacks.

WHO WILL WE SEE IN SEASON 3 of The Wheel of Time?

The main characters from The Wheel of Time will logically be back, namely: Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), Nynaeve (Zoë Robins), Egwene (Madeleine Madden), Rand (Josha Stradowski), Perrin (Marcus Rutherford) and Mat Cauthon (Dónal Finn). The writers also announced the return of Min, Loial, Alanna, Leane, Liandrin, Padan Fain, Maksim and Verin.

WILL THERE BE A WHEEL OF TIME SEASON 4?

For the moment, Prime Video has not announced season 4 of The Wheel of Time, even if there is plenty to do since the literary saga has 14 volumes. If the fantasy series is one of the most viewed on the platform in the world, the viewing figures for the second season are below the previous one. Given the significant budget required for its production, Amazon Prime will certainly have to see its expectations lowered. It remains to be seen whether subscribers will be there for the future. Otherwise, you will have to give up on it.
