Will there be enough rosé on the tables this summer? Nothing is less sure. For several weeks, the French wine industry has feared a bottle supply shortage that manufacturers are struggling to provide to their winegrower customers. “The purchasing department recently informed us of the cancellation of a delivery of several hundred thousand bottles. This will shift our industrial planning by several weeks”says the representative of a major French trader.

This threat of shortage affects the greatest as well as the most modest. “For an order made this winter, we only know five days in advance whether or not we will be delivered. This is a problem because our vats cannot remain full as the harvest begins in four
month”confirms Fanny Boyer, owner with her brother of Château Beaubois, an estate in the Costières de Nîmes appellation.
This danger of shortage put forward by many winegrowers would however be a fantasy…
