More than 7 long years after its official launch, The Witcher 3 continues to interest fans of the license, and not only elsewhere! With this in mind, the game is planned to be deployed on so-called “next-gen” consoles in the coming weeks. And it was in mid-November that the official Twitter account dedicated to the game announced its exact release date!

Here we are, the big day is approaching worshipers of The Witcher saga! It was in a tweet published at the end of the afternoon on the official Twitter account of the license that the publisher announced the big news: The Witcher 3 will land on Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 in December 2022! This update also concerns PC players in order to be able to take full advantage of the new technologies in this game.
Specifically, the release of this update for next-gen consoles will be available from Wednesday 14 December 2022. Highly anticipated news since The Witcher 3 is still one of the most popular open-world RPG games today, in line with other great titles in the genre, Elden Ring and Skyrim in particular, to name a few.
The Witcher 3 next-gent update content and price
The announcement tweet is quite sober and offers little information about this highly anticipated new update. On the other hand, despite the lack of details, we can note the presence of a crucial element: the price! And there, CD Projket RED hits hard: this update for next-gen consoles and PCs is planned to be completely free for owners of the original game.
Thus, owners of the game on PlayStation 4 will be able to play it on PlayStation 5, those having it on Xbox One will have access to it on Xbox Series, and on PC you will only have a free update to download. Excellent news that should allow more than one fan to once again immerse themselves in the skin of Geralt de Riv, the famous witcher so appreciated by players.
In terms of additional features, however, we know almost nothing about what will be available with this new version of the game. Of course, we can easily imagine that the most notable elements could be the integration of Ray-Tracing and times faster loading, but without really being able to affirm it. We know, however, that CD Projekt RED worked in collaboration with one of the most renowned modders in the community of The Witcher 3, Halk Hogan, in particular the origin of the mod “The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project” which allowed, among other things, to greatly improve the quality of the game’s textures. We can therefore assume that serious graphic improvements will be present!
