The Witcher: Blood Origin: Spin-off tells the origins of the fantasy hit

The Netflix series "The Witcher" gets a spin-off mini series. Henry Cavill will probably not be there.

The Netflix series "The Witcher" released in December gets a spin-off. The streaming service has now officially announced this. Henry Cavill (37), the main character of the series, will probably not be seen – or at most only briefly.

The six-part mini-series "The Witcher: Blood Origin" is supposed to be played 1,200 years before Geralt von Riva (Cavill). The spin-off will tell the story of the first witcher, as Netflix writes on Twitter. Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (41) are responsible for the new series.

Second season also planned

However, this should not mean that fans will have to do without Cavill in the future. Before the first season was released in December 2019, it was announced that a second season of the "The Witcher" series should come. A publication is expected for 2021, but there is no exact date yet. On August 17th, at least the shooting will start again after a corona break, as it said on the series' Twitter account in June.

The "The Witcher" series is based on the books by the Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski (72), which are also the model for a very successful video game series.
