The Witcher on Netflix: why are audiences dropping? Because of Americans and young people according to the producer!

The producer of “The Witcher” tried to justify the drop in audiences for season 3 of the Netflix series, the last with Henry Cavill in the lead role.

These are words that are sure to make people react. In reaction to the drop in audiences recorded by the third season of The Witcher, the producer of the Netflix series Tomasz Baginski tried to explain why the adventures of the Witcher fascinate subscribers to the platform less than before.

Some would be tempted to attribute this drop to the announced departure of Henry Cavill, due to artistic disputes with the writers of the series. But for the 47-year-old producer, the main culprits are… the Americans!

During an interview granted to the Polish site Wyborcza, the latter felt that the simplification of the plot of the series led to a decline in the quality of the program. But that this change was necessary, in particular to adapt to the habits of the American public which he considers different from those of the rest of the world:

A series is produced for the general public, with different experiences because of their origins from different parts of the world, and a large part of this public comes from the United States. (…) For Americans, this is completely incomprehensible and too complicated because they grew up with a different historical context: America always represents the camp of good, and the rest of the world the camp of evil.

Tomasz Baginski is not at his first “lost ball”. In a previous interview with the YouTube channel imponderable (via US site Kotaku) the producer had attributed the declining audiences of season 2 of The Witcher… to the lack of concentration of young people, in particular due to social networks. “The younger the audience, the less important the quality of the plot” according to him.

All three seasons of The Witcher are available now on Netflix.
