The Witcher without Henry Cavill: a star of Matrix and John Wick joins the Netflix series!

This actor from “Matrix” and “John Wick” arrives in season 4 of The Witcher… and it’s not Keanu Reeves!

It’s official: Laurence Fishburne is joining the cast of The Witcher for its upcoming season 4 – without Henry Cavill! As Variety reports, he will play the role of Regis, a character introduced for the first time in the novel The Baptism of Fire from the series of books by Andrzej Sapkowski from which the show is inspired.

Regis is described as “a world-famous barber-surgeon with a mysterious past who joins Geralt on his journey.”

I’m very excited to join the cast and can’t wait to explore the wonderful world of The Witcher”, the actor said in a statement.

Laurence Fishburne will thus join Liam Hemsworth who will succeed Henry Cavill and will make his debut as Geralt at the start of this season 4. The other main members of the cast, Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Freya Allan (Ciri) and Joey Batey (Jaskier), will be back. Production for the season is expected to begin this spring.

Known for his cult roles as Morpheus and King Bowery in The Matrix and John Wick, Laurence Fishburneis one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation – remember that he was nominated for an Oscar in 1994 for the film Tina –, but above all one of the most adored: will his presence in the casting console the fans of the series disappointed to see Henry Cavill go away ? To be continued.

Following the shocking continent-altering events that closed out season three, season 4 will follow Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri attempting to cross the continent ravaged by war and its many demons. They will then have to find their place among the different groups they will encounter to have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire – and finding themselves again.

While waiting to discover season 4, the first three seasons of The Witcher can be rewatched exclusively on Netflix.
