The world’s largest aquarium in Berlin has exploded

The fire brigade is on site with around 100 firefighters. The cause of the accident is still unclear. Debris lies on the street.

suk. The world’s largest cylindrical aquarium in the Hotel Dom Aquarée in downtown Berlin has burst. «The aquarium is damaged, water is leaking. The situation is not clear at the moment,” tweeted the Berlin fire department on Friday morning. The fire brigade is on site with around 100 firefighters.

The tank with around one million liters has leaked. There is debris on the street in front of the hotel and water is flowing everywhere. The pressure of the explosion apparently shattered windows.

There is a lot of water on the road. So far, the cause is still unclear, the fire department tweeted. The 16 meter high aquarium is located in a hotel right in Berlin city center near Alexanderplatz. The area has been cordoned off by the police. According to initial findings, two people were injured.
