The Xiaomi 12 smartphone unveils a little more before its official launch

Xiaomi will officially present its Xiaomi 12 range on December 28, 2021. A lot of information about the company’s top-of-the-range has already been leaked.

If information about the Xiaomi 12 continues to leak, there will soon be little more to discover during its official presentation on December 28. Indeed, part of the technical sheet seems to have escaped the Chinese giant. The famous leaker Evan blass, whose information is often very reliable, released a series of renderings of the standard model.

We discover a more compact device with a 6.28-inch OLED panel, whose edges are particularly thin. On the back, we can see the presence of an imposing photo island where a 50 Mpx wide-angle sensor sits enthroned (against 108 Mpx for the Mi 11). Xiaomi therefore seems to want to produce a premium smartphone of more contained size, which also feeds some rumors evoking the possibility of a “mini” version.

But that’s not all. The site Phone Arena relayed a visual previously published on the Chinese social network Weibo, suggesting the technical sheet of the Xiaomi 12.

If it is authentic, it tells us that the panel in question (DisplayMate A + certified) would display in FHD + and would offer a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. We also note support for Dolby Vision and HDR10 +. This seems plausible, knowing that the company has accustomed us to very beautiful screens, even on models like the 11T and 11T Pro.

Unsurprisingly, it is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 coupled with 8 or 12 GB of RAM that would animate the whole. An SoC that would obviously open the doors to 5G, Bluetooth 5.2 and wifi 6, among others. The set would very probably run under the MIUI 13 overlay.

Photo promises

This ad visibly emphasizes the photographic capabilities of the new mobile. The 50 MP wide-angle would measure 1 / 1.28 inch and would have a lens opening at f / 1.9 and offering optical stabilization. Thanks to the technology of pixel binning, which makes it possible to merge several photosites into one (here four), the pixels of 1.22 µm would increase to 2.44 µm on a 12.5 Mpx shot.

The Xiaomi 12 would also offer a 13 Mpx ultra wide-angle module, while the third sensor would allow X3 optical zoom.

Autonomy would be provided by a 4500 mAh battery compatible with fast charging at 67 W (120 W would perhaps be intended for the 12 Pro) and wireless charging at 30 W. Remember that you have to take this information with tweezers.

The three models presented at the conference would cost 3,699, 3,999 and 4,399 yuan, respectively, or around € 510, € 550 and € 610 excluding tax. Now you just have to wait four days to check if all these rumors are true.
