Xiaomi Redmi Note 13

  • The excellent brightness of the screen
  • Good autonomy
  • Photos (wide-angle, daytime)
  • Lagging performance
  • The ultra-wide-angle and the macro sensor
  • The interface still busy
  • Fixed refresh rate

A bright AMOLED screen and a fairly successful photo shutter

A first reason to include the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 4G in our comparison of the best inexpensive smartphones is its very successful AMOLED screen. This model features a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen which offers an immersive and high-quality visual experience for the entry-level. This panel offers vivid colors, deep blacks and high contrast for better image reproduction. The Full HD+ resolution guarantees a sharp and precise image with a pixel density of 395 pixels per inch.

The 120Hz refresh rate allows for smooth navigation and lightning-fast scrolling through web pages and apps. The maximum brightness of 1800 nits makes the screen perfectly visible even in direct sunlight.

And what about photography? It’s quite successful, especially for the price, and in particular for the wide-angle sensor. Its 108MP main sensor captures photos with an impressive level of detail, allowing for precise zooms and crops. Pixel blending technology delivers 12MP low-light photos with better quality and digital noise reduction. The 118° wide angle allows you to capture vast landscapes and groups of people without excessive distortion.

For the price, we are therefore convinced.

What is the Xiaomi model worth compared to other models of the same price?

It is interesting to directly compare Xiaomi models, because one of them stands out.

Let’s start with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11. Less recent than the Note 13, it is therefore also less advanced on certain points. For example, it also has a screen with an AMOLED panel, but its refresh rate caps at 90 Hz compared to 120 Hz for the Redmi Note 13. On the photo side, the latter is also much more qualitative, especially for the photos taken daytime and/or wide-angle. Note that the criticism of low performance, which we already addressed to the Note 11, applies to the Note 13.

And in the ring, what is the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G worth? It is certainly the most balanced model. Around fifty euros more expensive than the other two smartphones, the Note 11 Pro is fluid and suitable for multitasking use. In terms of autonomy, it does even better than the other two models, since it takes around 18 hours to drop below 20%.

In our opinion, the best value for money is therefore with the Note 11 Pro.

Xiaomi, an essential reference for smartphones

Formerly a manufacturer confined to China, Xiaomi is today a global brand widely known to the general public for its products with attractive quality-price ratios. And this is all the more visible in Xiaomi’s historic niche: smartphones.

The launch of the “Redmi Note” series clearly illustrates this desire to conquer new market segments by making smartphone technology accessible to as many people as possible. Building on their success, the Redmi Note evolves from year to year, until the latest one, which we presented today, the 13th.

The accessibility niche that Xiaomi occupies does not prevent it from also evolving in the mid-range and high-end, as evidenced by the Xiaomi 14 reference, which is around €1000.
