Health Committee: Corona rules until March
2G, relaxation or even a “Freedom Day” – for many Germans the end of the corona measures cannot come quickly enough. But experts and associations hold against it. The Bundestag’s health committee expects months of restrictions, but calls for an approximate end.
The chairman of the Bundestag’s health committee, Erwin Rüddel, expects an end to the corona restrictions from next spring. “I expect complete normality from March 2022,” said Rüddel to the newspapers of the editorial network in Germany. “Until then, the unvaccinated have to weigh what is important to them,” he emphasized.
On the other hand, the CDU politician ruled out a kind of “Freedom Day” based on the British model, as proposed by Andreas Gassen, head of statutory health insurance physicians, for October 30th. “I do not think the proposal is helpful in the current situation, shortly before a possible fourth wave,” said Rüddel.
As soon as children from the age of five received a vaccination offer, Germany would have to find its way back to normal. “Until then, I am convinced that the 2G option model is the right way to get through autumn and winter without any further restrictions in combination with the hospitalization rate as a leading indicator,” he said. This would mean that the vaccinated, who had made their contribution to solidarity, would largely have their freedom back.
The demand for an end date for all Corona protective measures – a so-called “Freedom Day”, had previously met with broad rejection in Germany. In addition to the Federal Government, the German Teachers’ Association and the Professional Association for Nursing Professions, among others, spoke out against such a cut-off date regulation.
