There are new emojis on iPhone, like this jellyfish and this vibrating head

The first beta of iOS 16.4 introduces a total of 31 new emojis from Unicode 15.0. They should be available in the spring.

In addition to providing several handy little functions (support for Mastodon links in iMessage, notifications from web-applications, new features for the Podcasts application, etc.), the next iPhone update, stamped 16.4, will bring several new emojis to owners of Apple devices. Announced in September 2022 at the same time as Unicode 15.0, these new emojis should allow the most creative to have fun when iOS 16.4 is released to the public in the spring.

21 new emojis, 31 with colors (and especially, the pink heart!)

Among the most striking emojis of this new generation, there are:

  • the vibrating head, which we imagine to illustrate an emotional shock.
  • new colored hearts (turquoise blue, gray and pink).
  • hands to “shake”.
  • A moose, for fans of the Snow Queen.
  • A goose.
  • A donkey.
  • A jellyfish.
  • Peas.
  • A flute.
  • Maracas.
  • The Wi-Fi logo.

Obviously, only people with a compatible operating system can see the new iOS 16.4 emojis (others will see a square, like this ?, which is actually a donkey). Apple will roll out the new emojiis with these future macOS, iPadOS, and watchOS when the new iOS is released, while the others go at their own pace. It is already possible to activate a preview with Windows 11, while Google is currently testing Unicode 15.0 with a beta of Android 13.
