The most famous mountain in Switzerland should of course not be missing from the list of the most beautiful photo spots. There are a multitude of places around the Matterhorn from which you can stage it perfectly.
However, if you don’t want to take a hike to take a photo, the popular photo spot at the Kirchbrücke in the middle of Zermatt is ideal. From the bridge, the Matterhorn shows itself from its most beautiful side.
Tschentenalp, Adelboden BE
Who wouldn’t want to enjoy the fascinating view of the Alpine chain from a swing? This is exactly what you can do on the Tschentenalp in Adelboden.
You can reach the so-called Giant Swing in just two to three minutes on foot from the Tschentenalp mountain station. The swing is available to visitors in both summer and winter.
Oeschinensee, Kandersteg BE
Especially during the first lockdown last year, this mountain lake became one of the most popular photo opportunities in Switzerland. No wonder: Surrounded by a beautiful mountain landscape, the lake shines in a bright blue tone that is guaranteed to stand out in every photo.
From Kandersteg you can reach the lake by cable car. Then there is a 30-minute walk from the mountain station to the lake. Another body of water in the area that attracts many visitors with its color is the Blausee.
Berggasthaus Aescher, Schwende AI
The traditional inn Aescher is one of the oldest mountain inns in Switzerland. The current building was built in 1860 in one of the Wildkirchli caves. The stairs that lead to the inn are ideal for taking photos of the impressive Alpine landscape and – according to National Geographic – the most beautiful place in the world.
You can walk to the inn in 15 minutes from the mountain station of the Ebenalp cable car. Those who are not afraid of a steep hike can combine the excursion with a visit to the Seealpsee, which is also a popular photo opportunity.
Rheinfall, Neuhausen am Rheinfall SH
There are numerous photo spots around the largest waterfall in Europe to capture the natural spectacle. Be it on the platforms built across the Rhine, up close from the ship or from the surrounding castles of Laufen and Wörth – here you are guaranteed to be in the limelight for a successful photo.
Fronalpstock, Stoos SZ
The view of cities, mountains and lakes from the Fronalpstock is hard to beat. The view is best enjoyed from a panorama platform and wonderful photos can also be taken. Even those who explore the Stoos region on a hike or a walk will come across enchanting motifs again and again.
From the center of Schwyz you can easily reach the summit with the Stoosbahn.
Bellinzona Castles, Bellinzona TI
A total of three castles adorn the Ticino city of Bellinzona: Castelgrande, Castello Montebello and Sasso Corbaro. All three have been Unesco World Heritage Sites since 2000. The impressive medieval buildings in combination with the wonderful view over Bellinzona make every photo an eye-catcher.
The castles can be easily reached on foot from the city center. For those who prefer to be driven, there is also a tour with the Artù tourist train, which goes through all three castles.
Cascata di Foroglio, Foroglio TI
The small village of Foroglio in Ticino appears like something out of a picture book. It is located in the farthest part of the Maggia Valley and consists almost exclusively of stone houses and walls. In addition to the fairytale village, the waterfall behind it attracts visitors. There is also a swing here on which you can pose for your next photo.
Creux du Van VD / NE
The mighty Creux du Van lies directly on the border between the cantons of Neuchâtel and Vaud. The 1200 meter long and 500 meter deep rock arena offers an overwhelming view that makes every photo a highlight.
The area around the Kar is protected by a reserve and is home to numerous wild animals such as lynx, chamois and ibex. If you’re lucky, you might even get one of them to jump in front of the camera.
You can reach the natural spectacle either on foot from Noiraigue NE or by car via Couvet NE or Travers NE.
The fork, Vevey VD
Ten meters next to the statue of Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977), the eight-meter-high fork was set up for the first time in 1995. The work of art was created by the plastic artist Jean-Pierre Zaugg (1928-2012) for the 10th anniversary of the Museum of Nutrition, the Alimentarium.
If you go on a trip to Lake Geneva, you shouldn’t miss the opportunity to take a photo with the – according to the “Guinness Book of Records” – the largest fork in the world.
