These connected watches become even better thanks to new generative AI

The Chinese manufacturer Amazfit is banking on AI to improve its watches with a new assistant based on a language model: Zepp Flow.

The Mobile World Congress is certainly an opportunity for smartphone manufacturers to unveil their new models, but it is also an opportunity for connected watch manufacturers to unveil new uses. Ahead of the opening of the show, the Chinese manufacturer Amazfit unveiled this Sunday the new interface for its connected watches and sports watches, Zepp OS 3.5.

The main novelty of this update actually comes from the integration of new features using the Zepp Flow personal assistant. According to Amazfit, it is in fact an assistant based on a language model and which will therefore be able to converse directly with the user in different settings. As a reminder, Amazfit already offered a similar function within its Zepp application to chat with virtual coaches, for a monthly subscription.

Many uses of artificial intelligence

With Zepp Flow, Amazfit promises that the conversational assistant based on generative AI is integrated directly into its connected watches. Enough to allow several uses detailed by the manufacturer. Among the examples put forward by Amazfit, we can cite the addition of an event to its calendar, the response to messages received, the addition of a countdown or questions specific to sport or health: “ What is my current look? ” Or ” Suggests a good cooking recipe to lose weight “.

If most of the functions highlighted are quite similar to those that the Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri voice assistants could provide on other watches – remember that Amazfit watches already integrate Alexa – others go a little further, like the suggestion of recipes or questions about a current workout.

It will of course be necessary to test this functionality over the long term to discover more. That’s good, Amazfit announces that Zepp OS 3.5 and the AI-based assistant Zepp Coach will soon arrive in France. Deployment is scheduled for May 1 on the Amazfit Balance connected watch, for May 28 on the Amazfit Cheetah, Cheetah Pro, Falcon and T-Rex Ultra watches and for June 20 for the Amazfit Active.
