On the sidelines of the Amazon Accelerate event, the e-commerce giant is announcing new features to optimize product searches on its mobile application. Google had better watch out!

An effective search tool is essential for online commerce platforms. Although Amazon has been gradually expanding its system for years, it remains traditional, sometimes lacking relevant features. With options similar to what we find on Google or Pinterest, the firm is now taking a big step forward. Clearly, there’s no stopping him when it comes to innovations these days.

The augmented reality solution is getting better

Until now, Amazon allowed you to search for a product based on a photo. Like Google Lens Multisearch, a tool launched in 2022 by the Mountain View firm, the company includes the possibility of adding text to your queries to refine the results. For example, if you’re looking for a replacement part for a household appliance, you can take a photo of the part, then add the name of the appliance, such as “Frigidaire”, details Amazon.

The American giant is also improving its augmented reality device. This allows you to view certain products, such as furniture or decoration, within your home. Now the app supports the smallest items that can fit on a table, like “ lamps, home decor, and small appliances such as toaster ovens and coffee makers “.

You can easily visualize how the product will look in your space and make a more confident purchasing decision. You can move products from one surface to another to better assess how they fit into your environment », Specifies the company.

A popular Pinterest feature lands on Amazon

Amazon is also introducing a brand new feature, already available on Google and Pinterest where it is particularly popular. Called Find-on-Amazon, it allows you to search for any product present on another platform directly on the Amazon marketplace.

Whether you’re on social media, in a browser, or checking your emails, you can click a dedicated button to share the image on the Amazon app. “ You don’t even need to know the name of the product or how to describe it », assures the firm.

Amazon also explains that it will make it easier to order products already purchased in the past, in addition to adding an indicator on the recent popularity of an item. Amazon’s search tools should also soon benefit from generative artificial intelligence. For several months, the company has been developing internal solutions to integrate technology into its marketplace.
