As promised a few months ago, the driving license exam will undergo some changes from September 12th. Changes which concern the examination questions which will be updated and which promise to be “clearer” and “more intelligible”.
This summer, the driving license has already been the subject of two announcements, one more interesting than the other. The first being that the exam will soon be accessible from the age of 16 under certain conditions and the second, more restrictive being that of a possible driving license specific to seniors. Rearrangements not yet put in place unlike that of the examination of the Highway Code as promised by the interministerial delegation for road safety.
Indeed, from Tuesday, September 12, 2023, the examination of the Highway Code has a new look! The questions which until now formed the examination in question will be updated in full, as confirmed by the interministerial delegate for road safety, Florence Guillaume: “the questions are clearer and more intelligible, the difficulty should not be in the question, but in the answer to be given“. An update of the driving license exam which follows the need for understanding, simplification, but also the need for adjustment to new travel devices such as the electric scooter or the bicycle.

More “empathetic” questions
A bank of questions from the general theoretical exam called ETG which has been completed to include nearly 1,037 questions from Tuesday September 12, 2023 in all approved centers in France. Questions that have been worked on with “industry professionals”, but also “language simplification professionals» as Florence Guillaume indicated in order to make them more «empathetic” for some by pushing the driver to put “in place of the other user» whether on two or four wheels.
It is not only the textual content that has been affected by the modifications, but also the visual content transformed to be more realistic with, among other things, shots taken with drones. If this update of the Highway Code examination was expected, the last one was made in 2016, the conditions for obtaining a driving license remain the same.
