If you bought a pizza in a supermarket, take a look at this product recall which concerns a product sold throughout France. You could risk injury.
In 2022, the affair of frozen Buitoni pizzas contaminated with E.coli bacteria caused dozens of victims and caused the death of two children. A real health scandal, which has left its mark. Recently, a product recall targeted cheeses for the same reason. But pasta from another major brand was targeted due to the presence of plastic.
This Monday, April 15, 2024, the alert was given concerning a children’s costume which presents serious risks for little ones. And on the food side, it’s once again pizzas that are recalled today, for “risk of injury”. But it is not a brand that is in question. And it is for a very specific ingredient that the recall is made concerning these foods sold in supermarkets throughout France.

Pizzas recalled for risk of injury
The recall produced today is voluntary, that is to say that there is no prefectural decree which has forced it. It comes from the distributor Auchan Avallon, for pizzas sold in its stores throughout the country between April 8 and 12, 2024, their expiration date being April 12.
These are queen pizza, goat’s cheese pizza, Alsatian pizza, Francophone pizza and tuna pizza which were made on site in store and are sold individually. The reason ? One ingredient they all contain: oregano ! It comes from 1 kg leaf from the supplier Laboratoire Herboristerie Générale, and presents risks for the consumer.

The presence of glass debris in this oregano leaf is possible.but not proven”, specifies the government website Consumption reminder which transmits the alert. The risks are injuries following ingestion of the pizza, with undesirable side effects. Must therefore do not consume the product, return it to the point of sale or destroy it if you have not already eaten it. If this is the case, the product recall does not specify the procedure to follow.

It is however specified that you will be refunded. But be careful, you have until May 15, 2024 to complete your procedure. This is in fact the date set for the end of the recall procedure.
