The mini-series “The Ones Who Live” has just finished its broadcast, but many fans of the “The Walking Dead” universe are wondering when the next series derived from the horror universe will be broadcast.
After only six episodes, the mini-series The Ones Who Live ended its broadcast this Friday, April 26 on Paramount+. And while the future of the program is not assured, no season 2 having been announced, fans of The Walking Dead are already wondering how long will we have to wait before the horrific universe makes its return to television.
What will be the next The Walking Dead series?
Fortunately, the wait won’t be very long. After the adventures of Rick Grimes and Michonne, viewers will have an appointment next June with Daryl Dixon, during the second season of the spin-off series. In this direct sequel to The Walking Dead, the hero played by Norman Reedus wakes up in France, and faces new forms of threats.
The announcement of Daryl Dixon’s renewal came a few months before the official launch of the series, during the fall of 2023. Filming for season 2 was able to take place despite the start of the actors’ and writers’ strike in Hollywood, due to its offshore filming employing mainly French teams.
The Book of Carol
While the first season explained how Daryl ended up in France, the second will follow his quest to return to his native country. Remember that this season 2 is subtitled The Book of Carol (Carol’s book in French, editor’s note), in reference to the big return of the iconic Carol Peletier played by Melissa McBride.
Originally, the latter should have appeared in the first season of the program. But the decision to shoot the series in France forced the latter to withdraw from the project, because she was unable to move away for too long from her family based in the United States.
A solution seems to have been found to allow the actress to return to the horror universe. News that obviously delights fans of the series, Carol being among the most popular characters in The Walking Dead universe!
