These two electric scooters become much easier to recharge and also cost less

Easy-Watts is installing a new, lighter battery on two of its electric scooters. A development which is accompanied by a big drop in price. We take stock.

Based in France, the Easy-Watts brand markets electric two-wheelers assembled in China. Its range is largely made up of small scooters with removable batteries, although a few motorcycles also appear in its catalog.

The e-stock and e-presto are two models classified in the 50 cc equivalent category. Thanks to their 3.6 kWh battery, they offer a comfortable range, estimated at around 100 km by Easy-Watts. The problem is that said battery takes up a lot of space under the saddle and still weighs 22 kilos. Suffice it to say that it is not suitable for those who live in a building without an elevator…

But for the start of the 2023 school year, Easy-Watts has decided to correct the situation with a new “Air” version of its two scooters. This uses a much lighter lithium battery (14.4 kilos), supplied by the Chinese giant CATL.

The new battery has a capacity of 3.12 kWh and guarantees a theoretical range of 100 km. This figure was measured by Easy-Watts, which ensures that this is the real autonomy. However, we must keep in mind that the promises made by manufacturers are often very optimistic. It will be necessary to test them to be sure.

A new battery which allows you to have a real safe

Less bulky, the battery of the e-stock and e-presto air also frees up space under the saddle. The trunk thus becomes sufficiently roomy to accommodate a jet helmet.

Although the press release does not mention it, the e-stock and e-presto air are losing slightly in power. Their motor, still housed in the rear wheel, delivers 2.4 kW, or 0.6 kW less than that of older versions. However, it remains a priori more than enough for a 50 equivalent.

A price less than 2,000 euros bonus deducted

On electric scooters over 2 kW, the bonus amount is calculated based on the number of kWh. With their slightly lower capacity battery, the new versions are therefore penalized on this point. They nevertheless remain much more attractive from a financial point of view.

Both sold for 2,775 euros, the e-stock and e-presto air are eligible for a bonus of 735 euros, which drops the price to 1,990 euros. This is around 450 euros less than the models with the old battery.
