These undercover photos show off a brand new Xbox

A mysterious white Xbox Series X, unknown to the battalion, and without a Blu-ray player. This is what three photos, visibly taken secretly, then shared by the specialized site Exputer, allow us to discover at the end of March. The machine revealed by this series of photos seems to take the rest of the design of the current Xbox Series sign of a turnaround in Microsoft’s strategy.

A previous leak had in fact suggested that the firm would be banking on a much more ambitious “refresh” Xbox Series X, equipped with a new design and a largely revised technical sheet. Nicknamed “Brooklyn” internally, this modernized Xbox could therefore have been postponed (or canceled) by Microsoft, so as to make way for the model unveiled by Exputer.

Towards a more affordable “digital edition” Xbox Series

Despite the few improvements it should make (notably in terms of dissipation), this white console without a Blu-ray player seems more rudimentary. According to Exputer, it could enter the market next June or July, at a price $50 or $100 lower than that of the current Xbox Series €550 in France.

The Verge, which was able to consult additional documents relating to this machine, indicates that the photos published by Exputer appear authentic. Microsoft has, however, not yet responded to requests from the American media on this subject.

As a reminder, Microsoft’s “Brooklyn” project was leaked last year, as part of a lawsuit between the Redmond giant and the American FTC. Also deprived of a Blu-ray player, this home console notably had to offer a brand new chassis, but also offer more internal storage space (2 TB), USB-C ports on the front, better connectivity and a processor more energy efficient… all at a price maintained across the Atlantic at $499. Internal documents revealed following this affair finally hinted at a potential launch last November, but Microsoft seems to have since changed its tune.
