In containment since March 13, Bulgaria was able to demonstrate a major outburst of generosity from the country's deputies and ministers.

While the containment measures are being maintained in Bulgaria, the country's deputies and ministers have announced that they will donate their salaries to the public health system. This is an announcement to take into account since it represents 740,000 euros. Rare unanimity was noted following this decision. This will also take into account the salaries of political cabinets and heads of government agencies. This decision was officially taken by parliament on Monday, April 6 and should relieve the budget of public health services particularly in need in this period of health crisis.

In Bulgaria, confinement and a state of health emergency are maintained until May 13th. The consequences of this crisis have, of course, for the moment, slight consequences on the country. 549 positive cases of coronavirus were resensed as well as 22 dead. The poorest country in the European Union still has 42,000 new unemployed since the start of the crisis and the appearance of Covid-19 within Bulgaria. A significant rise in unemployment is still expected and could go up to 6.2%.

With this initiative initially proposed by the conservative party in power, the Bulgarian government thus wishes to face the fragility of the country's health system. Because so few cases are noted, compared to other European countries, a considerable economic crisis has unfortunately taken hold in Bulgaria. Indeed, if a balanced budget was voted before, the parliament adopted a deficit of 3%. It is therefore in this sense that it was obliged to update the budget for 2020.
