A fire broke out in a house in Cossé-le-Vivien (Mayenne), this Friday, December 24, around 4:30 am. No casualties were reported. The inhabitants of the town quickly mobilized to help the family.
It was around 4:30 am, when a fire broke out in this house in Cossé-le-Vivien in Mayenne: “We don’t know how it took. There was nothing in the house at the start, it came from outside ”, declared Jean-Michel the owner, to our colleagues in Ouest-France.
On Christmas Eve, the fire could not have come down more badly: “It’s a whole piece of his life that goes up in smoke. We lost everything ”, but it was without counting on the solidarity of the residents.
A whole city behind the family
On Christmas Eve, a whole town felt concerned by this tragedy, the mayor, Christophe Langouet, the first: “I dare not put myself in their shoes. Losing your home is losing all your bearings. It’s not just material, ”he laments.
Through his social networks, he launched an appeal for donations, which did not leave his neighbors insensitive.

“We heard about the movement this morning”
A permanence has been set up at the town hall of associations. From the first hour, around forty people showed up to provide support to the family.
An action that touched them a lot: “We heard about the movement this morning. It is heartwarming to see people mobilize at a time like this, ”underlines Jean-Michel.
The family is happy that everyone is safe, and should be relocated with friends.
