A little girl aged only 10 was found dead on October 19 in a cellar in Sedan. Ouest-France indicated that a 57-year-old man was arrested and taken into police custody the same day, for murder and rape of a minor under 15 years old. This Friday, October 20, the Reims public prosecutor specified that the autopsy carried out on the child had made it possible to conclude that “the girl [avait] was hit numerous times in the face, resulting in her death “. The child was also “raped in particularly difficult circumstances”specified the prosecutor.
The victim’s father confirmed that he knew the suspect. “They were friends from the neighborhood obviously, it doesn’t go any further,” said the prosecutor, indicating that the girl would be “already came to his house on a friendly basis”. Known to the police for traffic offensesthe man was sentenced to a one-month suspended prison sentence for theft in meeting in 2017. “He is someone who is an alcoholic, divorced, who has 6 children, who come to see him from time to time and who was born in Sedan”added the prosecutor, specifying that the latter had no professional activity.

It was ultimately a woman, five minutes after the broadcast of the call for witnesses, who helped investigators find the body. The latter declared having seen the child enter with a man in a “disused bar” on rue Saint-Michel, in the historic center of Sedan.
