This Apple TV+ series could get in the way of Amazon’s “Fallout” project

SILO

An Apple TV+ series will be launched soon that is very reminiscent of the story of the “Fallout” video game series. But Amazon is also planning to make “Fallout” a series. That could become a problem.

  • Apple’s “Silo” and Amazon’s “Fallout” deal with a very similar topic.
  • In both series, people have to live in underground shelters after the apocalypse and finally rediscover the earth’s surface for themselves.
  • But is that why the productions stand in each other’s way?

The post-apocalyptic Apple TV+ series “Silo” starring Rebecca Ferguson (“Dune”) will be released in early May 2023. It’s about a world where people live in silos underground and Ferguson must uncover the truth about the silos as Juliette, an engineer.

At the same time, Amazon Prime Video is developing a series for the video game series “Fallout” that starts with a very similar premise. In a post-apocalyptic setting, people can only survive in underground shelters for a long time, similar to the silos in the Apple TV+ series.

So plot-wise there are some similarities between the series, only “Silo” appears much earlier than “Fallout”, Amazon hasn’t even announced a start date for the video game adaptation yet. By the time Fallout comes out, the entire season of Silo will have aired. If “Silo” becomes a hit for Apple TV+, it could saturate viewers for such post-apocalyptic sci-fi stories, so they don’t even want to watch “Fallout” anymore.

In addition, video game fans are always somewhat critical of the series and film adaptations of their favorite games. Although the very good film adaptation of “The Last of Us” could certainly change the minds of some skeptics, “Fallout” will have to face stricter criteria than “Silo”.

Although the Apple TV+ series is based on a series of novels, “Fallout” is certainly better known. If both series appear in a timely manner, they will certainly find themselves exposed to constant comparisons. However, the creators of Amazon’s “Fallout” may consider this and move the series further into the future. Either way, the series could stand in each other’s way.
