A page turns. Henry Cavill has officially bid farewell to Netflix’s The Witcher series and Geralt of Rivia by dropping a particularly stunning tackle.
On June 29, the first part of season 3 of The Witcher is coming to Netflix. A season that promises to be special, and not only because it is divided into two parts (the second will be released on July 27). No, if it promises to be emotionally charged, it’s because it will be the last in which Henry Cavill will play the main character of the show, Geralt de Riv. Then, the British actor will give way to Liam Hermsworth in seasons 4 and 5 of the adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s work. While he had remained fairly discreet since the announcement of his departure, Henry Cavill made his public farewell to The Witcher… by dropping a big tackle on the showrunners from the Netflix series.

During the TUDUM: A Global Fan Event organized on June 17 in Brazil, Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey were present on stage to discuss the next season of The Witcher. The opportunity for the interpreter of Geralt to publicly bid farewell to the series and to the fans for the first time, while paying a very nice tribute to the other members of the cast. The Briton bowed out without forgetting to drop a sentence resembling a small tackle to the showrunners from the program.

You bring so much nuance and detail to these characters, which often run the risk of being oversimplified, and what you did with them took so much work and attention and effort. Believe me, working with you has been the greatest pleasure. So, I just want to say that I’m going to miss you.
A season 3 already lambasted by fans before its release
Seeing Henry Cavill insist that the characters played by his colleagues were treated well despite the “risk of being oversimplified” can be interpreted as a direct criticism of Lauren Hissrich, the series’ lead. Indeed, even if the actor has never said so officially, persistent rumors indicate that Henry Cavill has, in part, left the series because of the scriptwriting liberties taken by the screenwriters compared to the novels, also making his character less faithful to what Andrzej Sapkowski has made of it. The rag seems to have burnt forever between Henry Cavill and the showrunners of The Witcher. Let’s hope this doesn’t impact the quality of season 3, which has already been heavily criticized by the public.
