A video attests to the aggression against the deputy Isa Penna, on the part of a colleague who comes to grab her breasts in full debate in the Brazilian Parliament. An investigation has only just been opened, two months after the events.
A hallucinating scene in a place where law is discussed. In December 2020, in Brazil and in the midst of a state budget debate, Brazilian MP Isa Penna is chatting with a colleague, when an MP comes up behind her and touches her breasts. She pushes him away sharply, but acts like nothing has happened. The assault was filmed, as can be seen below. The MP immediately lodged a complaint against her colleague, whom she accuses of wanting to discredit her as a committed feminist personality. An ethics commission was finally dispatched in February 2021 to discuss a sanction against the aggressor. Remember that a sexual assault is defined as touching the sex, buttocks, chest or thighs of a person without their consent. This is criminally reprehensible.

This video is shocking and also reminds us of a sad fact: violence against women politicians is everywhere. In France, if there has never been a known sexual assault in the middle of the Assembly, the deputies are not left out when it comes to sexism. Insults, remarks on dress, hissing noise to cover up their words, there is no shortage of examples. In February 2021, the deputy Mathilde Panot had asked for sanctions against Pierre Henriet, who had called him a fishmonger and crazy. She won her case and the elected representative lost a quarter of her compensation. A small step which proves that nothing should be missed.
