Opera GX, the gamer version of the web browser, has announced the arrival of a new feature that is fun to say the least. Soberly titled “panic mode”, this allows, with a simple press of a key on your keyboard, to camouflage all the tabs that you wish to keep confidential, to replace them with an innocent page.
It seems that gamers have a lot to hide. After Steam, which allows its users to hide certain games in their game library from prying eyes, it is the turn of Opera GX to take care of their private lives. Launched in 2019, the browser is Opera’s gaming bent, which includes various features designed specifically for gamers.
This makes it possible to limit the use of the CPU and GPU, in addition to offering optimized integration of Discord, Twitch and other social networks. To all this is now added a keyboard shortcut which will be of interest to all those who engage in… confidential activities. Or, at least, who visit sites they shouldn’t visit in certain contexts.

Let’s say you’re watching a video on your favorite social network at work, thinking no one sees you. But, unfortunately, your boss shows up in the room without warning, with a direct view of your screen. Opera GX now offers a solution to this thorny situation. Simply by using the F12 key on your keyboard, the browser will mute all your tabs and open a new page of your choice.

It is therefore up to you to define in advance what this page will be, depending on the risk situation. Note that Opera GX already has some suggestions, such as YouTube, Twitch and even Wikipedia, in case you want to shine in society. Once the conflict has been avoided, simply press F12 again to reopen all hidden tabs. To benefit from it, you will first need to activate the option Early Bird from the browser settings.
