this crucial detail to check to receive a large transfer from the DGFiP

More than 10 million households will receive a transfer from the tax authorities on July 24 or August 2 for the reimbursement of income tax. But before taking advantage of it, there is a particular element to scrutinize.

It’s a gift from the tax authorities that will do good for the wallets of millions of households. The Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFiP) will very soon proceed with a reimbursement following the last declaration of income.

Those who were overtaxed in 2022 or who are entitled to a refund of tax reductions or credits, will receive a transfer on July 24 or August 2. These two dates more or less correspond to the calendar for the availability of tax notices.

A verification to be done before July 3

Last summer, 13.7 million households reached an average amount of 840 euros from the DGFiP. But to receive this transfer, there is an essential detail that you must check. To do this, you must ensure before July 3 at the latest, Monday, that the bank account known to the tax authorities is the correct one.

You have two possibilities. The first: log on to your private space on impots.gouv.fr, Department withholding tax, section Update your bank details. Indeed, it is this account that will be used to carry out your eventual reimbursements or withdrawals.

Second possibility: contact the contact center by telephone on 0809401401 (non-surcharged call), Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A letter-cheque in case of impossible transfer

It should be noted that since this year, the security of changing bank details has been reinforced by sending a one-time use code sent by SMS to validate the operation.

This code will be sent once you have entered your mobile phone number in your private space. Thus, before any modification of your bank details, make sure that the telephone number entered in your private space is the correct one, explains the economie.gouv.fr website.

If ever your bank details are not correct or if you have not sent them to the tax authorities, you will receive a check letter directly to your home address.
