This electric motorcycle promises maximum safety thanks to AI

Announced at the start of 2023 and not yet marketed, the TS Ultra electric superbike from Verge Motorcycles is already evolving. Its update announced at CES 2024 provides it with new vision capabilities of its environment for the safety of its pilot.

If cameras and other environmental sensors have become commonplace on cars, they were until now unknown to the motorcycle world. Electric motorcycle maker Verge caused a stir at the CES Unveiled event in Las Vegas by announcing that the TS Ultra would be equipped with the Starmatter Vision system. Armed with no less than six cameras and two high-resolution radars, the TS Ultra sees its surroundings in 360 degrees and uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to analyze in real time the possible risks facing its pilot.

The motorcycle recognizes the vehicles surrounding it and can alert the pilot of immediate dangers, especially when changing lanes. To do this, the screen placed on top of the “tank” has been enlarged and the indications have been made more intelligible. For example, as soon as the indicator is engaged, the image from the rear camera is reproduced before the driver’s eyes. To benefit from improvements over time, the software can also be updated wirelessly.

In addition to its new innovative human-machine interface, ABS and traction control, the TS Ultra is equipped with a 20.2 kWh battery pack which powers an engine with just over 204 horsepower and, above all, 1200 Nm of torque which propels it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds. Top speed is limited to 200 km/h.

Despite these leading performances, the claimed autonomy is 375 km in the best conditions and 215 kilometers in normal use. To reduce downtime, fast charging can be completed in just 25 minutes, around 30 minutes less than the base version of the TS.

Deliverable in the fourth quarter of 2024, the Verge TS Ultra is marketed from 54,880 euros and can be reserved for 1000 euros. Its configurator allows you to choose from six different colors, different upholstery and two types of shock absorbers. Customers who have already reserved the TS Ultra will automatically benefit from its new definition. Its basic version is available from 33,280 euros.
