Eh yes, Citizen Sleeper is currently only in English, which is sometimes disturbing for players who struggle with the language of Shakespeare, especially for a narrative game with so much text. But, good news, the studios are announcing a French translation of Citizen Sleeper, which will be launched for free on February 1st on PC, PlayStation, XboxSwitch and in the Game Pass. The game will also be translated into Japanese and simplified Chinese, a colossal task as Gareth Damian Martin, creator of the title, explains:
The process of translating the game into a new language has always been a huge effort for one language, and this time we’ve added three.
With the three DLCs, we now had nearly 180,000 words to translate, and beyond the amount of work that represents, we needed an experienced localization team who understood and could convey the intricacies and nuances of the Thu. I’m very happy with the end result and can’t wait to see a new audience experience life on Erlin’s Eye.
Purists rest assured, the translation was provided by Eric Holweck, Bérangère Holweck, Jonathan Pierre, Pierre Queljeu and Samantha Germaneau from RiotLocwho have already translated Baldur’s Gate 3. On the storyline side, Citizen Sleeper follows a sleeper, a human consciousness in an artificial body, hunted by his former corporation. The narrative game takes us to a ruined space station, theEye of Erlin, with thousands of residents trying to survive on the fringes of a capitalist society. Players will have to create friendships, earn a living and help factions.
