This is the first study to accurately measure the health benefits of what the researchers called a “daily and vigorous physical activity”.

The researchers thus discovered that 3 to 4 minutes of effort each day is associated with a 40% reduction in all-cause mortality, and a 49% reduction in deaths from cardiovascular disease. The study was conducted on more than 20,000 people who had not practiced any sporting activity for nearly 7 years. Among them, 89% carried out small daily sports activities, which made it possible to detect why they were in better health than those who did not move or moved little. In order to measure their activities, they were equipped with bracelets recording their movements, like the connected watches used by athletes.
