this game from the creators disappears, players disappointed

To the despair of some players, a game from the creators of Elden Ring has just disappeared without warning. But is it still playable for those who own it?

The total disappearance of physical games in favor of dematerialized one worries players. Even though the share of digital has been steadily growing, the dreaded scenario has not yet happened. Nevertheless, some bad signals are regularly sent. Like this brutal decision by Ubisoft that angers us and it’s not the only disappointing news today. A game from the creators ofElden Ring has just been withdrawn from sale.

An Elden Ring dads game deleted without warning

We will have to get used to it, the future of video games, and even of entertainment, does not look rosy for collectors or people who are looking for the maximum quality to watch their films or series. Indeed, Netflix or Disney+ may offer 4K and HDR, but these are still programs that are subject to compression in particular. But we digress (slightly).

The real problem affecting all entertainment is the eventual disappearance of the physical medium. Although we do not wish it, it will happen one day or another. And if the dematerialized has an advantage, like being able to have a large library directly from a platform, there are some serious disadvantages. The user no longer owns anything and at times there may be rights concerns that force publishers to remove games from online stores.

Maybe that’s what just happened with Enchanted Arms. A 360 / PS3 RPG from the creators of Elden Ring which was directed by Masato Miyazaki (MGS Peace Walker, Demon’s Souls…). It’s far from FromSoftware’s biggest hit, but it seems to have its fans. On Metacritic, the game is between 6.6 and 7/10 for player rating. Between 64 and 69/100 for the appreciation of the press according to the console.

For some unknown reason, the Elden Ring dads game was removed from the Xbox Store. It is now impossible to buy it, which disappoints some Internet users. Especially those who had put it on their wishlist and/or who were watching for an interesting price drop. “Shit, I was waiting for it to be on sale” wrote a tweet. “I noticed this last week, and I’m disappointed because I wanted to buy it” comments another.

Whose fault is it ? Ubisoft?

Coincidence or not, at the time, this FromSoftware game was published by… Ubisoft! Should we see a link with the way the publisher has to manage retro games? We are not going to draw hasty conclusions. Especially since it may be a temporary problem that will be resolved in the coming months. But given the confidentiality of the title, it is not certain either. What are the consequences if you still have Enchanted Arms? That’s the good news, you’ll still be able to cast it despite its disappearance from the Xbox Store.

As for FromSoftware, the Japanese studio has been preparing the after Elden Ring for a while. At the same time, the developers have worked on the return of a franchise with big and beautiful mechas. Armored Core 6 will finally be released on August 25 on PS5, Xbox Series and PC. One of the biggest releases of summer 2023. About Elden himself, he could see that number of players increase seriously if a rumor is confirmed.

According to a web theory, the software could join the Xbox Game Pass in the coming weeks. Credible? As explained previously, this is not said to be the case. FromSoftware’s masterpiece has been the victim of such rumors on numerous occasions, but also of false leaks. In the meantime, it is often found on sale and the title deserves the financial investment anyway.
