this huge leak scares fans very much

Once again, The Sims 5 is the target of a new leak, but this time, it worries players a lot. Complaints are starting to be heard, and that doesn’t bode well for the future.

Unveiled in broad daylight in 2022, The Sims 5 has been lurking in the shadows for a long time. We wonder at what stage development has reached, but for the moment, we are in the fog. Therefore, it is the leakers who bring us information about it. Unfortunately, they are not always crispy, far from it. And it’s not the new leak that’s going to fix things. The latter set the community on fire with a single image.

A leak on The Sims 5 that stings the eyes

Okay, what’s going on? Why are the fans in this state? In fact, a screenshot of the game was posted online. We can see two characters that are supposedly in The Sims 5. Obviously, the image is not taken in real time, and it is surely an artwork to be found in the game. However, this was enough to worry a good part of the fans. For them, the artistic direction and overall aesthetic of the title should definitely not look like that. It is considered by many to be too “cartoonish”.

The Sims 5 would therefore not seek to adopt a realistic style, to the great dismay of players. That said, some have a theory. Indeed, several people argue that we are indeed dealing with the sequel, and that it will have this appearance because of a very specific element: its arrival on mobiles. It’s no secret, EA confirmed in 2022 that the new opus was going to be multi-platform, ranging from PC, to consoles, to our mobile phones. For many, this visual aspect is a consequence of this choice.

So, this raises the question of how The Sims 5 will run on mobile. Should we expect the worst? For the moment, we will avoid getting too far ahead, especially since we are dealing with a leak. In any case, it doesn’t just make people happy on social networks. “So good The Sims Mobile”, “Hard”, “Standards have never been lower”, “I really don’t like this style”, we can read in particular. The pill is clearly having difficulty passing, and that is understandable.

A sequel that will use DRM?

To continue the bad news, another leak recently informed us that The Sims 5 could make use of DRM. As a reminder, this is the famous controversial technology from Denuvo. Its role is to make it more complicated to hack games, but at the cost of their in-game performance. It is clearly not unanimous among players, and each time a game uses it, it repels more than one. We therefore hope that Project Rene will do without his help. Afterwards, it remains information that should be taken with a pinch of salt. If in doubt, it is better to wait for an official statement from Maxis or EA. But hey, that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen anytime soon.
