During this difficult time, the most important thing is to keep your head up and not lose hope. Guido’s wishes for the Christmas period and beyond.
The current time is anything but contemplative for many people in the world: There is war in Europe, triggered by Russia’s attack on Ukraine, inflation is affecting everyone and is driving some to the brink of financial ruin, the energy crisis and the associated rising costs do the rest. Nobody can really say how things will continue, with the corona pandemic that has not yet been overcome, with Europe, with the economy.
Difficult days, on which many people find it very difficult not to lose hope – but we have to hold on to it, Guido Maria Kretschmer wishes in an interview.
“Without peace everything is nothing”
The fashion designer quotes former Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt: “Peace is not everything, but everything is nothing without peace.” We would all notice this very strongly right now, says Guido. “Peace is the most important thing, next to people’s private lives. And I wish everyone there, too, that they don’t have any battlefields in their own four walls with their partners, families, children, relatives, bosses, colleagues or anyone else.”
He hopes that the “unfortunate war in Ukraine” will end, that the regime that is currently killing and oppressing people will no longer have the strength to do this next year and that “good always wins.”
Guido wishes for hope
He can understand that people are losing their hope at the moment, because in addition to the war there are many other issues in our world whose rescue is being pushed into the background by the current situation – “and they have to be saved!” He describes the present as “very dramatic” and even if he had sympathy for the people who are currently struggling with their own hope, it is his wish that this very hopelessness does not occur. “I think that would be the downfall.”
